Verifying your identity & adding a bank account

Before you can move money in or out, you’ll complete a quick identity check (KYC). To cash out to a bank, you’ll also add a bank account. Here is what’s needed and the questions people ask most.

Verifying your identity (KYC)

Identity verification is required to transact, in line with financial regulations. In Mexico, you’ll provide:

  • Government ID — your INE (voter ID) or passport.

  • Proof of address.

  • CURP and RFC — Mexican nationals provide both.

  • A liveness check — a quick selfie/video to confirm it’s really you.

Foreign residents in Mexico provide a valid temporary or permanent residence permit, proof of address, and both an RFC and CURP.

Requirements vary by country and currency. If you’re cashing out in Brazil, you’ll add PIX bank details and your local identifiers at the bank step.

Do I need a bank account?

Only to off-ramp (cash out to a bank). You can buy and hold Stablebonds without one — a bank account is required only when you want funds paid out to your bank.

  • Mexico: a CLABE (paid via SPEI).

  • Brazil: a PIX account.

Adding & validating a bank account

  • Automatic validation. When you add a bank account, a small automatic micro-deposit (about 1 cent) is used to confirm it. Until that completes, the account shows as in review; once confirmed it becomes active.

  • Use a real bank CLABE — not an intermediary/“proxy” account, which can’t be registered.

  • One account per taxpayer ID. The system links one CLABE per RFC. Changing it later is a manual process that can take about a week, so add the account you actually intend to use.

Common questions

  • My document upload failed. Try again with a clear photo or PDF. If it keeps failing, contact support.

  • My bank account is stuck “in review.” The automatic validation deposit hasn’t cleared yet — give it a little time. If it stays in review, contact support.
